Abstract

The protagonist in the texts of Abdullah Jad'an is characterized by linguistic markers, and its presence is positioned within the elements that compose itwithin the word itself, its movement inside the text, facial changes, or the guiding expressions left by the author. The character emerges from nothingness at the beginning of the text and returns to it at the end, fulfilling both its function and the role assigned to it simultaneously. Therefore, Jad'an crafts his protagonists within a unified identity that is known through the discourse spoken in their name and is structured according to the axis of time and the spatial boundaries within which the character moves. This is because the protagonist is the main element in the text and the primary component of the conflict, in addition to possessing emotional traits that qualify them to actor refrain from acting
